Injury Breakdown: Kyle Pitts - ATL

Was there a more painful experience last season than knowing that Kyle Pitts was about to disappoint you but still putting him in your fantasy lineup because he was one of the first five picks you made in your draft? I can tell you, there was not. It was the hardest thing to do because Pitts followed up a historically good rookie season with an absolute dud in 2022. It was almost a relief when he was placed on IR with his MCL tear because at least the guesswork of whether or not to bench him was over with.

Now, the good news for anyone who still believes in Pitts is that the MCL heals very well. Unlike the ACL, the MCL has very good blood supply, which allows the tissues to heal back to near pre-injury levels. It's a very routine injury and recovery, but it does take a little bit of time.

From a health standpoint, I don't really have any reasons to tell you not to draft Kyle Pitts in fantasy this year. But don't forget, the team is still a run-first team run by a run-loving head coach in Arthur Smith, and they just drafted arguably the most talented running back prospect we've seen since Saquon Barkley. Oh, and Desmond Ridder is still the quarterback. So, tread carefully with Pitts at his current tight end five price tag. If I had to put him on a list, I'd put him on the do not draft list because the upside is huge, but the downside is another frustrating year with him on your fantasy teams.
