The hype was huge for Trevor Lawrence coming into 2023. He was supposed to go off, but in reality, he basically had the same year that he had in 2022: 4,000 yards passing, 25 total touchdowns. He didn't have a bad year by any means; he just didn't have a great year. They just couldn't figure out how to incorporate Calvin Ridley, and Christian Kirk missed five games last year, which did not help.
So they made some changes here in 2024. Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones are gone. Gabe Davis is in; he's going to be their field stretcher. Christian Kirk should be back 100% healthy and return to being Trevor Lawrence's safety blanket. Then they went out and drafted Brian Thomas Jr. out of LSU in the first round, and this guy can do it all. And let's not forget they also have the likes of Evan Engram and Travis Etienne as well—high-end options at each position.
Now, from a ball catcher perspective, it's going to be a nightmare to figure out weekly in Jacksonville, but it should definitely help out Trevor Lawrence on a weekly basis. He has weapons at all levels of the offense. He's in an offense that's going to throw the ball close to 600 times a year, and now we can get him at a discount this year, right around the mid-ninth round or so. Also, he's one of the last younger quarterbacks in the draft before you start heading into some of those older vets. In fantasy football, I really don't hate him in the ninth round at all in 2024.
