People just freak the F out over highlights of dudes practicing in shorts every single year, and now they're doing it with Malik Nabers here in 2024. Now trust me, I love Malik Nabers. I even said during the NFL draft season that, hey, in the right situation, I would take Nabers over Marvin Harrison Jr. But I don't look at Nabers falling to the New York Giants as some great landing spot.
Now sure, I'm on record as not really being a Daniel Jones truther, but it's not all his fault. The offensive line has been horrible. But Daniel Jones has a career high of only 3,200 passing yards and hasn't thrown for over 20 touchdowns since 2019, not to mention he's never played a full season. In the backfield, they've gone from Saquon Barkley to Devin Singletary. I think opposing defenses can pay a little bit more attention to the passing game now. Plus, they still have other guys in this offense that they can't find a way to get the ball to consistently, guys like Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt.
But because of some highlight reel catches in OTAs when everyone is in shorts, Nabers is just climbing up draft boards. He's being drafted ahead of the likes of Tee Higgins, Trey McBride, and George Pickens, and honestly, I don't know if I'm ready for that just yet. This kid is one of the most talented young wide receivers in the league, but I would want him to be the wide receiver three at least on my fantasy team.
The problem with that? Going in the first four rounds would mean that you would need to draft three wide receivers with your first four picks, and that is already a strategy that we know does not work very often.
Fully agree with your take! Having pick 1.02 in dynasty this year (rookies only), would you still take him at 2? Have Aiyuk DJ Moore and Wilson as my other WRs. Full PPR
